Softening Systems

Many water supplies contain dissolved solids such as calcium and magnesium. These dissolved solids are typically referred to as “hardness” in the water. This hardness can cause excessive wear on equipment such as water heaters, boilers, steamers and humidifiers. By removing the hardness from the water, the “softened” water increases the life of many appliances. When cleaning, softened water requires less detergent than hard water. The advantages from water softeners or water conditioners are some of the primary reasons that the equipment is a necessity in many commercial and industrial operations.

Solution Purification

Solution purification is the application of ion exchange to remove unwanted contaminants in process solutions or baths, thereby extending the life of the solution to improve product quality. Generally, a bath is either batch treated or recirculated through a column of specially-selected resin for purification prior to sending it back to the process. Secondary steps to adjust or reconcentrate the bath may be required prior to reuse.
